Kim did it again.
She bought us tickets to another timeless band, and somehow a night at the 2026 Iowa State Fair turned into one of those nights that reminded us exactly why we love doing this stuff together.
Boots were a choice
We Ubered in, which was absolutely the right call, and hit the Fair ready for a night out. I was wearing cowboy boots because apparently I thought that was the proper move.
It was. Right up until the blisters showed up.
Still worth it.
Acting like kids
Somewhere along the way we ended up on the water ride, because being responsible adults is wildly overrated once you walk through the gates at the Iowa State Fair.
We got wet, laughed like idiots, wandered around, found drinks, caught some music, and generally acted like two kids who had temporarily misplaced all adult responsibilities.
There were the smaller stages, local bands, the usual expensive Fair beers, and plenty of reasons to just stop somewhere for a while and enjoy whatever was happening in front of us.
Exile and Alabama
Then it was time for the reason Kim had brought us there in the first place: Exile and Alabama.
There is something pretty special about seeing a band whose songs have been around for decades and realizing the whole place still knows the words. We danced, we drank, we sang along, and had an absolute blast.
Kim was beautiful, as always, and I spent a good chunk of the night thinking how ridiculously lucky I am that my favorite person is also the person who keeps finding these adventures for us.
Apparently Kirk let loose
By the end of the night, the expensive beers had apparently done their job and I was feeling pretty good.
Good enough that the night somehow ended with a dance.
Yes. A dance.
There may even be photographic evidence. I will accept whatever judgment history decides to hand down.

Worth every blister
We Ubered back out, feet hurting, smiling, and already laughing about the night.
These are the nights we love: music, drinks, a little stupidity, a little dancing, and getting to do all of it together.
Thank you to Jess and Beck for the free tickets to get us into the Fair. That made an already great night even better.
And thank you, Kim, for another one. You are amazing, you are beautiful, and life is a whole lot more fun because we keep saying yes to nights like this.
