Eight Birthdays With My Favorite Person ❤️

For the eighth year, I get the honor of celebrating the birthday of my favorite person in the world. And somehow, every year, I feel a little luckier.

Kim is the most beautiful and kindest person I know. Sure, that smile gets me every time, but it’s the heart behind it that makes her so special. She loves with all of her heart, gives others everything she has and then somehow finds a little more to give. Thoughtful, kind, generous and pure. That’s Kim.

And I’m the lucky guy who gets to share this life with her.

A few birthdays along the way

We’ve celebrated her birthdays in some pretty great places. From the covered bridges of Madison County, to Guadalajara in Altoona, to the beaches of Puerto Rico, and plenty of places in between. Looking back at these pictures, I’m reminded that it was never really about where we were. It’s about who I was there with.

We’ve laughed, explored, eaten some great food, had a few drinks, and made a whole lot of memories. And there’s one thing that’s always there: her beautiful smile and that incredible spirit of hers.

I love her for all the things she is, and for the way she makes even the ordinary days worth remembering. Eight birthdays together, and I still can’t believe how lucky I am.

Happy birthday, beautiful. Here’s to a whole lot more laughter, adventures and memories together. I love you, Kim. ❤️

More memories from today to come. Our story is still being written.

Five Sweet Years

Five Sweet Years fifth anniversary episode card

Somehow, right in the middle of family visits, crazy summer days and all the other stuff life had going on, Kim and I hit five years.

Five sweet years with an amazing woman.

I got her some flowers and a ring to match her engagement ring, and we managed to carve out a little time for just us.

The cards pretty much said the rest.

We headed to Cooper’s on 5th in Valley Junction for dinner, had a really nice meal, and then made our way back to Ankeny and finished the night dancing in The District.

Nothing over the top.

Just a really great night with my best friend.

Five years has gone fast. We’ve packed a lot of life, a lot of miles, a lot of laughs and a whole lot of adventures into that time.

I’m grateful.

I’m pretty damn lucky.

And I can’t wait to see what the next five — and all the ones after that — have in store for us.

This is the stuff we actually cook, ride, eat, buy, break, fix, visit, and recommend. We’re not pretending to be experts — just sharing what happened and what we thought. If a link ever earns us anything, we’ll say so.
